Community Finance

About this company

Community Finance provide low-cost finance to New Zealand’s Community Housing Providers to build new, safe and affordable homes for Kiwis.

What makes this investment ethical?

It fits into our Community Housing positive investment theme. And it supports one of our 3 filters: Respecting people.

Why Pathfinder invested

Pathfinder has helped fund projects arranged by Community Finance (an unlisted private company) because it aligns with our community housing investment theme. We want to be part of the solution for ensuring all people in New Zealand, including our most vulnerable, have a warm, dry place to call home. Additionally, social housing transactions pay a commercial return – so from early on we saw this as a no brainer.

How will your investment in this company impact their business?

Our investment is helping Community Finance provide social housing for people in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. So far Community Finance has helped The Salvation Army, CORT and the Otautahi Community Housing Trust provide social housing with income related rent subsidy for over 200 dwellings and allowed nearly 60 dwellings to be refinanced for CORT.

Pathfinder have directly helped three projects come to fruition and we are currently working on our fourth social housing project with them.
